AIHS matches scholars, healthcare professionals, researchers, activists, and individuals working in health, human rights, and SRH with experienced mentors in their field. An AIHS mentor brings structured guidance, honest feedback, and a network you could not build alone. Mentees are matched within the same specialty or area of mutual interest and engage through a clear framework of defined goals, documented milestones, and regular accountability — blending virtual and in-person interaction throughout the year.
Too many early-career health and rights professionals navigate their formative years without structured support, and access to informal networks depends too heavily on geography and luck. AIHS designed this programme to change that — making systematic, specialty-matched mentorship available to those who need it most.
Connect early-career professionals with matched mentors to support smooth transition into practice and build lasting networks across health, human rights, and SRH in Uganda and East Africa.
Develop leadership capacity and a community of practice that extends well beyond the formal mentorship period.
Month 1: specialty-matched pairing, structured induction, and co-developed mentorship plan with quarterly milestones.
Months 1–10: minimum one structured engagement per month (virtual or in-person).
Month 6: facilitated midpoint review with the AIHS programme coordinator.
Month 12: closing reflection and transition into the AIHS alumni network.
Peer mentorship circles run in parallel for cohort-level connection and mutual accountability.
Free for enrolled AIHS students. A nominal participation fee applies to external applicants.
